======The Red Sky====== ====What We Know==== Something occurred at the centre of the Zone and the end result was that every four to seven days the sky would turn red and anything caught outdoors is burnt to the point of completely vaporising. Tests on a small lizard suggest all animal life is affected, but plant life seems to escape unharmed. Being indoors seems to be sufficient protection, as yet no-one has tested temporary shelters like a tent. ====Tests Completed==== Dr. Dorset has built a scanner capable of working autonomously and has thus acquired the first set of reliable scans of a red sky event.\\ \\ The radiation embedded in the Red Sky is not heat in and of itself, but it generates heat as it interacts with some organic matter. Further analysis suggests it only affects animal DNA and the vaporisation effect occurs as the animal DNA is unravelled and each cell of a targeted organism falls apart completely. The residue left behind simply blows away on the breeze leaving almost no evidence the affected creature was ever there. ====Possible Ways Forward==== A biologist could look at the radiation and standard DNA markers and see what marker is being targeted. \\ A chemist could look into a material that absorbs or reflects the radiation.\\ A chemist and biologist could work together to look at methods of proofing the body against the effects by pharmaceutical means.\\
