Event 8 Rumours

The rumoured Government crackdown continues apace. At least six corporate research have been ordered to quit the Zone, and freelancers and Bar staff alike are expecting a bonanza of corporate hit jobs as prominent executives come into the Zone to oversee shutdowns, and scientists are transported out. For those without scruples, the next few weeks could well be highly profitable.

The so-called Creed of the Well seem to outsiders to have fractured into two distinct groups. The smaller group remain by the well in their crude chapel, but lots of groups of two or three followers are travelling the Zone selling bottles of well water for exorbitant sums. It is of course highly likely that the sales groups are not true Creed, and have somehow conned them into giving up water.

Elias is rumoured to be stepping up his campaign against the Zone's economy with attacks on three different Bars in the last few weeks. The last attack moved away from explosive devices and instead one of the staff was shot by a sniper. There are now several posted bounties for Elias in the various different Bars. He is now very close to surpassing the Archbishop in value as a target.

Event 8 After Action Report

The Archbishop is finally dead, killed by freelancers after a protracted chase. It reportedly took several clips of ammo emptied into his head to finally finish him off. Rumours are swirling of several interested parties putting in substantial bids for the corpse, but no-one seems to know where it went. It is believed this marks the end of the Churchgoers.

Corpses have been appearing across the south eastern parts of the Zone, all missing vital organs. Tales of a freelancer called Jason being the one responsible, and on a determined quest to harvest livers for some unknown end, have been circulating and it is probably only a matter of time before bounties are posted for this Jason.

A brisk trade in so-called Fizzy Water has sprung up, and many are reporting incredible short-term benefits to their cognition and reflexes. A few remain sceptical, pointing to the equally brisk trade in nutritious lamb that killed a couple of dozen people before the long term effects were noted. Most are pointing to the low life expectancy of a freelancer as evidence the long term effects are of minimal concern anyway…

Around 24 soldiers were shot and killed in a raid on the centre of the Zone. It is believed the raid's goal was to capture something but it is unknown what this was or whether the raid succeeded. Either way, the military are rattled and reports suggest a response is coming in due course.

Government agents have apparently started to hire missions independent of the Bar structure. Those that have been hired have been paid in gold, gems, even actual cash. Many freelancers are now left with currency they can't spend and no easy way to convert it into something that will buy food and guns. The usual profiteers are offering to buy up gold and gems for a fraction of what they're worth but even they won't touch cash.

Some enterprising individuals have set up a gambling ring around a new anomaly. The anomaly fires an energy burst that throws people out of it, the gambling game seems to be based around who has the nerve to stay in the longest. So far, there have been three deaths as people are throw out of the anomaly into a solid barrier, breaking the vast majority of their bones, and a freelancer lost an arm when said barrier materialised through their arm as they reached in.
