This anomaly appears to emit a form of radiation that interferes with the visual cortex of the brain, rendering anyone within it blind. Experience shows that exposure of around a minute causes severe headaches. A corpse found near the anomaly appeared to have died from a brain haemorrhage induced by the same radiation.
Insect life studied within the anomaly seems to have been rendered permanently blind but with no other apparent ill effects. Some of the insects displayed unusual behaviour and abilities, suggesting heavy mutation.
