The Palantir Anomaly
This anomaly forms a circle of small crystals at its perimeter, with a small cluster of crystals at the centre of the ring. When removed from the structure each crystal emits a deadly amount of radioactivity within a relatively short range, mostly beta radiation. Whilst within the structure the beta radiation forms a kind of feedback loop which has a healing effect on creatures within the crystal ring.
Completed research
In theory it should be possible to gather up the crystals from an anomaly and rebuild the circle in a secondary location, recreating the feedback. This would require a container for the transport of the crystals and some means of gathering them into the container and extracting them at the target site. Environment suits might be sufficient for the task, but it might need something more robust. It is unknown how long the crystals would maintain their healing properties outside the anomaly and whether or not the anomaly would produce new crystals over time.
Research Starting Points
- Determine if the circle can be rebuilt.
- Determine if the crystals regrow.
- Study a single crystal under suitable safety conditions.
