The Palantir Anomaly
This anomaly forms a circle of small crystals at its perimeter, with a small cluster of crystals at the centre of the ring. When removed from the structure each crystal emits a deadly amount of radioactivity within a relatively short range, mostly beta radiation. Whilst within the structure the beta radiation forms a kind of feedback loop which has a healing effect on creatures within the crystal ring.
Completed research
A means of gathering the crystals is now known and an exact mapping has been made to recreate the circle in a new location. Calculations suggest the circle will last 88.3 years in its new position assuming no disruption to the circle. Should the circle be disrupted it can be re-aligned at a cost of around 0.8 years of useful life.
The crystals will need to be handled by people in suits rated for nuclear material and transported in a similar form of container.
Research Starting Points
- Determine if the circle can be rebuilt.
- Determine if the crystals regrow.
- Study a single crystal under suitable safety conditions.
