The soil in this anomaly is saturated with a biological accelerant of some kind. As a result the plant life in the anomaly (predominantly grass) grows and decays at a phenomenal rate. The speed and nature of the decay causes rapid fermentation of the decaying matter, saturating the air above the ground with alcohol vapour. Test subjects reported severe drunkenness within about 30 seconds. Based on scans and test data it would appear lethal alcohol poisoning would occur within about 90 seconds.
